Migrating Markups To Merge Markup Sets

When multiple markup sets are used by various reviewers a migrate markups project can be used to combine those markup sets into a single markup set to make production easier. Below we will go through the steps and various scenarios that cover this workflow.

Creating and Running a Migrate Markups Project to merge into a new markup set

migrate markups new set

A migrate markup project can be used to merge markup sets to a new set for production. In the above example we use two markup sets, A and B, and then run two projects to merge them into a new markup set used for production, markup set C. To do this follow the below steps.

  1. Navigate to Blackout | Projects
  2. Click on Create New Project
  3. Select Migrate Markups from the available options
  4. Choose the saved search, markup set, and Document identifier you wish to match on in your source. Then in the destination fields choose the same workspace as your current, the markup set you wish to use for production, and the same document identifier as your source.
  5. Click Create
  6. Then click Run to execute the project

Repeat the above steps again for the second project except replacing the Source Markup set to the second markup set you wish to merge into the production markup set.

Once the projects are completed you will be able to review the results and see the number of markups placed as well as any warnings. Please see our section on Reviewing Migration Results for more details.

Creating and Running a Migrate Markups Project to merge into an existing markup set

migrate markups existing set

A migrate markup project can be used to merge markups from a mark up set to an existing markup set. To do so follow the below steps.

  1. Navigate to Blackout | Projects
  2. Click on Create New Project
  3. Select Migrate Markups from the available options
  4. Choose the saved search, markup set, and Document identifier you wish to match on in your source. Then choose the same workspace as your current one from the dropdown for destination, the markup set you wish to apply the markups to in the destination and the document identifier you wish to match on.
  5. Click Create
  6. Then click Run to execute the project

Once the project is complete you will be able to review the results and see the number of markups placed as well as any warnings. Please see our section on Reviewing Migration Results for more details.
