The HTML chart type allows for the input of custom HTML that can be used to improve the flow of your dashboard or provide additional context. HTML charts can also be run in a SQL mode that allows them to be combined with SQL for a very dynamic chart.
This is a sample of a basic HTML chart. HTML charts can be as complex as you need them and utilize inline CSS to improve the quality of their visuals.
Use HTML From SQL Query
In order to use HTML from a SQL query, you must write an SQL query that returns HTML. The easiest way to demonstrate it is something basic like the following sample.
DECLARE @htmlBodyExample varchar(max)
SET @htmlBodyExample = '<h2>I''m an HTML chart</h2><div>And I''m here to stay.</div>'
This sample results in the same exact chart as above.
- Combine this with gathering data from your database to create truly unique HTML charts.
