Update Overview
The following areas of Blackout have been significantly overhauled.
- CSV Rule Import
- Job View Page
- Job Run Page

CSV Rule Import Improvements
- CSV Rule Upload has been overhauled
- Up to 100,000 rules can now be uploaded from one CSV document
- The 100,000 rule maximum can be modified by changing an instance setting, but it is recommended that you contact support@milyli.com first in order to understand the potential impact of increasing the upload limit.
- When uploading CSV rules, an activity indicator is displayed letting the user know rules are being loaded from the CSV
- A friendly message is displayed on the rules tab indicating how many rules have been uploaded from CSV
- CSV Rules that are uploaded can also be downloaded from the job page
- CSV rules can be removed from a job
- CSV rules can be re-loaded into a job after removal
New User Experiences
Job Creation and View Page
- Jobs can now be created without adding initial rules to allow the creation of jobs that will only use rules imported via CSV
- The job page has been overhauled with a brand new UI
- The job page has been rearranged to better show the current state of the job
- The job page will change contextually based on what actions are available to the user
Running and Active Jobs
- Jobs now display when they are queued for qualification and present an indicator when they are waiting on other jobs to finish qualification
- In the Relativity agent tab, each Blackout OCR and Redaction agent will now display the workspace ID, document ID, and number of pages of the document it is working on
- Jobs now show live progress for document qualification, document imaging, and document redaction
- Running jobs will now display the following:
- The number of pages being OCRed
- The number of pages being scanned for redaction
- The current document being OCRed along with the number of pages in that document
- The current document being redacted along with the number of pages in that document
- Expected number of redactions to be placed at the current stage of the job
- The number of redactions that have been placed at the current stage of the job
- Elapsed time
- Estimated time until job completion
- Start time
Completed Jobs
- The job complete page has been overhauled with a brand new UI aimed at providing more useful job information including pages per hour, redactions per hour, expected number of redactions, and placed redaction counts
- An Advanced Stats tab has been added that includes more detailed statistics about completed job runs
Miscellaneous
- Additional indexing has been added to the Blackout_SystemLog table in the EDDS database to improve logging performance
Modified User Experiences
- Removed the “control panel” in the upper right corner of jobs
- Job actions have been replaced with new buttons
- Rules have been moved to their own tab on the job view page
- Rules that have been uploaded by CSV will no longer display on the job page and are now self-contained in the CSV for viewing
- Blackout warnings have been overhauled
- Blackout will now only display warnings for missing images, missing extracted text, and job run issues
- Mismatches are no longer treated as warnings
- Additional redactions placed based solely on OCR are no longer treated as warnings
- Blackout has been changed to only get extracted text through the RSAPI if the extracted text is in DataGrid
- Environments that have extracted text in SQL will experience a significant increase in performance when qualifying documents and getting the extracted text for OCR
- The mismatch list has been overhauled to only treat redactions expected to be placed based on the extracted text as a mismatch
- Accessing the redacted document saved search and missing redaction saved search has been made easier
- Mismatches have been rebranded into “Missing redactions” or “Redactions missed” and is now based on the individual redactions rather than the document counts
- The process of deleting markups now has an activity indicator to show that markups are being deleted.
- A friendly message and next steps are now displayed after markups have been successfully deleted
- Manual rule creation is currently limited to 500 terms
- The 500 rule maximum can be modified by changing an instance setting, but it is recommended that you contact support@milyli.com first in order to understand the potential impact of increasing the upload limit.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug that resulted in jobs to continue running after a job failure was encountered
- This would cause issues and conflicts when re-running the job or starting a new job
- Fixed a bug that resulted in jobs continuing to run when deleting markups, even after the job status switched to complete
- This would cause issues and conflicts when re-running the job or starting a new job
- Fixed an issue that resulted in the mismatch list displaying an incomplete or incorrect list of documents with missing redactions
- Several performance fixes have been introduced surrounding how jobs execute for all stages of the job
