After setting up Delegate profiles, users who are members of those profiles will be able to begin using Delegate client administration. However, before they can begin creating users, the clients that they have access to will need additional configuration. We provide a plethora of additional configuration options, many of them new in Delegate 2.0.
If you are already familiar with working with clients, then there are only a few new changes that you should be aware of. This guide will cover these changes for getting your clients configured for use with Delegate.
Clients at a glance
When you click on the Client system admin tab, you will be presented with a full list of all of the clients in your environment. Each client can be configured independently from one another allowing for very specific setups based on what your organization needs.
When your admins work through the Delegate client admin tab, they will be able to swap between the clients they have access to and each of those clients will retain the settings you have selected for them. This will ensure a consistent experience for each client that is being managed based on your requirements.
Configuring a client
To get started configuring a client, click the row for the client you want to work with. If you have a large number of clients, you will need to filter the list to get to that client. After clicking on the client, you will navigate to the client configuration form. This is changed slightly from previous versions of Delegate, which displayed configuration in a modal popup.
Resource Pool field
The selected resource pool will be used when creating workspaces for this client. This provides you with a strong configuration option for separating which resources will be used when client admins create workspaces. This will restrict the values that are available for file server, SQL server, and default cache location. If this is not set, workspaces for this client cannot be created.
Template User field
The template user is a new feature in Delegate 2.0 that allows you to select a user whose user fields values will be used as the default values when your client administrators create a new user for this client. By selecting a template user, your client admins will only need to input their first name, last name, and email address when creating new users. Client admins may override any of these values.
It is important to note that if the template user is configured with the "Default Password" authentication provider, then that provider will automatically be used when a client admin creates a user for this client. This will allow for rapid user creation without having to configure the provider every time. The invitation workflow will be kicked off automatically when creating a user in this manner.
This feature also works nicely when paired with restricting the configuration of authentication providers on the Delegate profile. You can easily create a workflow where your users don't ever need to worry about authentication providers and can simply enter the first name, last name, and email of the user, click “Create and Next,” then immediately move on to creating the next user.
Enable Users by Default? field
Delegate 2.0 introduces the ability to set the default enabled state of newly-created users. This feature works well with the Delegate Profile feature of restricting the ability to change the enabled field for users. Combining these features allow you to, for example, build a workflow where all new users in the system are created as disabled. Then your system admins can enable them at a later date when Relativity access is needed.
Workspace Templates field
Workspace templates are the workspaces that will be available for selection as the workspace template when creating new workspaces. If this is not set, workspaces for this client cannot be created.
Provider Types field
This field allows you to determine which authentication providers should be available for client admins to select from when creating new users. If none are selected, no authentication providers can be configured for users that are created by the client admin.
